Cloer Family Vineyards

After visiting the Southpoint winery, Beth promised to have found a small winery outside of Apex (about 15 minutes from where we were) that would make up for our current disappointment. Cloer Family is a small family owned winery. They only sell four wines, but they offer a wonderful patio area to relax and enjoy a glass of wine, and/or a picnic. Since we still had a couple of hours to spare, so we were able to buy a glass of wine and sit out. The people who were there (maybe 5-6 other people) were very trusting. All of their belongings were out near one of the patio chairs, while they were touring the facilities.

Memorable Moments:
It was only $2! Granted there were only four wines to choose from.. but it was only $2 and Beth and I bought a glass of wine, which was also, only $2. This was a great and inexpensive place to visit for tasting, and relaxing.

Favorite Wine:
Noble: What can I say? I love red muscadine wines and this one definitely did not disappoint me. It was very smooth, and not too dry or too sweet. It was great with dark chocolate!


Other Samples:

• Chardonnay: This is their best selling wine. They like to call this their veranda wine because you can drink it outside on the veranda whether you like dry or sweet wines. It's a dry, but not bitter wine. It wasn't too bad for me. I was a bit scared because this was one of the wines they sold at Southpoint, but it was alright.
• Chambourcin: This is a Virginia grown red wine. It smelled so good! I have found that I am a fan of the "oaky" taste. They add oak chips to give it a smokey taste.
• Carlos: This was one of their two muscadine wines. I normally can't stand any Carlos wines I've tried... but I actually liked this one. It had the taste of a semi-dry wine. I really loved it.
